Sedation Dentistry
Austin, TX

Image of patient getting sedated so the austin dentist can perform dental work on patient who can relax and be worry free.Sedation dentistry is now being offered to those patients that get nervous or experience anxiety when seeing the dentist or for those patients that just want to relax during a more extensive dental procedure. Don't let your fear of the dentist keep you from achieving a healthy mouth.

Sedation dentistry options during your appointment include:

Nitrous Oxide:

Recommended for a short appointment or for those who only experience mild anxiety. Nitrous oxide provides light sedation and tends to give a patient a sense of euphoria. The effects of nitrous wear off following discontinuation and you are free to go about your normal daily routine immediately following your appointment.

Oral Sedation:

Oral sedation involves taking a pill(s) an hour prior to your dental appointment. With this type of sedation you will feel relaxed or may sleep and most patients tend to have little to no memory of the appointment. With this type of sedation you will need a driver to take you to and from your appointment. You should be able to go about your daily routine the next day.

Intravenous or I.V. Sedation:

This type of sedation involves having an I.V. placed in order for medications to be administered. The great part about I.V. sedation is that you don't have to wait around for the medication to take effect such as with oral sedation and we can easily and quickly increase your comfort level by giving additional medications. Intravenous sedation tends to have the best overall sedation results, especially in patients with severe dental anxiety or patients undergoing more invasive dental procedures. With this type of sedation you will need a driver to take you to and from your appointment. You should be able to go about your daily routine the day following the procedure.

Patient Testimonials.

Our patients come back to us because we truly care about the care you receieve. Here are some of the things our amazing patients have to say about us:
Dr. Courtney and her staff are super friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I had to get implants for two "baby" teeth i still had left b/c i never grew permanent teeth in their place. I had to be sedated for the operation and expected to be out of commission for a couples days and in a lot of pain the following week. However, that evening I felt surprisingly good with minimal pain.

Dr. Myers is the best. I have been a patient of his for about 5 years and every time I come he makes me feel super relaxed and at ease. I have had everything from a simple cleaning to crowns and everything is virtually painless afterwards. I would recommend him to any person who is seeking a great dentist and staff.
